Rosacea Treatment

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a condition characterized by redness, particularly of the central face. Acne-like pimples or irritation of the eyes may accompany the redness. Rosacea affects many Americans, especially those of Northern European ancestry. In addition to genetics, lifestyle and environmental factors can also affect rosacea. For example, sunlight, spicy foods and alcohol ingestion may trigger a rosacea flare up.

Available Treatments

Treatments are aimed at reducing the underlying redness and inflammation. Sulfa-based washes, medicated creams and, sometimes, oral antibiotics are used for such purposes. In addition, a focus on identifying and reducing triggers is paramount to reducing major flares.
