Rash Treatment

What is a Rash?

The term "rash" refers to a visible change in the appearance of your skin, such as with bug bites, poison oak, or hives. Rashes can be acute or chronic. They can persist for several weeks to months or they can be intermittent, fading and re-emerging with various triggers. Rashes can present as minor inconveniences to patients or they can be a harbinger of more worrisome internal medical conditions.

Available Treatments

While most rashes are not serious, your dermatologist should further evaluate those that do not improve or that are associated with other symptoms, such as severe itching, fever, or joint pain. Treatments might include creams or oral medications to relieve your symptoms. Additional tests to determine the cause of the rash may also be ordered by your dermatologist.
